SEOUL, March 2025 – South Korea’s largest battery exhibition, InterBattery 2025, will be held from March 5 to 7 at COEX, Seoul. The event will showcase next-generation battery technologies from the country’s three leading battery manufacturers—LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, and SK On. These companies aim to bridge the chasm in the electric vehicle (EV) market by introducing cutting-edge innovations.
The "chasm" refers to a phenomenon where new technologies face stagnation or decline in demand before achieving widespread adoption. In the EV sector, safety concerns and skepticism have slowed consumer uptake, particularly following recent EV fire incidents in Cheongna, Incheon. Despite such challenges, the global EV market continues to expand, and InterBattery 2025 will introduce technologies designed to overcome these hurdles.

LG Energy Solution will operate a 540-square-meter booth, unveiling its new 46-series cylindrical battery lineup, which reportedly offers at least five times the energy and power output compared to previous models. The company will also highlight its Cell Array Structure (CAS) module and pack solution and showcase the solar-powered mobility vehicle developed by U.S. startup Aptera Motors.
Under the theme "InCelligent Life: Everyday Upgraded with Battery Technology," Samsung SDI will exhibit No-Thermal Propagation (NTP) technology and All-Solid-State Batteries (ASB). These innovations are designed to enhance safety and efficiency in energy storage solutions. A Samsung SDI representative stated, "This exhibition will demonstrate how battery technology can enhance our daily lives while reinforcing our competitive edge in the industry."
For the first time, SK On will showcase a full-scale prototype of its cylindrical battery alongside its high-voltage mid-nickel battery. The company emphasized that its diverse portfolio of battery formats and chemistries aligns with shifting global EV market trends. An SK On spokesperson remarked, "Visitors will witness SK On’s innovative approach to battery form factors and chemistry diversification."
Hosted by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, InterBattery 2025 is jointly organized by the Korea Battery Industry Association, COEX, and KOTRA. With participation from over 640 companies, it will be the largest edition in the event’s history.
This exhibition is expected to serve as a platform for exploring the future of the EV industry, featuring state-of-the-art battery technologies and groundbreaking innovations that could redefine the sector’s trajectory.
